Elevators – What’s happening?

We are sure most of you are frustrated by the lack of a full complement of elevators for Valencia and Grenoble. The time wasted waiting for elevators has been and continues to be unacceptable. Furthermore, the quality of the “completed” working (sometimes) elevators is suspect: missing screws, loose and warped technical access panels, wildly fluctuating floor level notifications. You’ve all noticed.

The September 2021 contract for new elevators in the Condo Control documents file anticipated 470 days for completion, with a projected end date over a year ago. The contract also stipulates a $500 daily penalty for exceeding the completion deadline, or about $150,000 of penalty year to date. What’s the status of that?

Finally, we have received no recent communication from the Board regarding the status of elevator project. We only hear through the grapevine and from chatting with elevator installation personnel that inspections have been problematic and they are continuing final steps to pass inspection. The mishandling of this project does not bode well or inspire confidence in the monitoring of future major projects contemplated under the current board supervision.
